The Importance of Social Media in Managed Services

A managed services provider (MSP) should always protect their image. However, it should not only protect its image on the ‘real’ world. An MSP should also protect their image on the cyberspace. Not doing that will risk its overall image. Actually, this is already old news since many service providers know that this is a standard office procedure. Nevertheless, many providers are still not accustomed with protecting their online image and reputation.

The most fundamental step of protecting a business’ online image is to create an account on every social media platform. Creating those accounts would let an MSP have a solid grasp on every accounts related to its brand and lower the risks of having impostors. Many service providers have their own social media accounts secured, but most of them do not use those accounts effectively.

To use social media accounts effectively, a managed services provider should assign a team who will handle those accounts. The provider needs to have more than one person to handle the accounts so that it will assure itself that every social media action is checked. An MSP should also create a guideline and strategy on how, when, why, and what to post on their accounts’ social media statuses. In addition, everything that will appear from an MSP’s social media account should be always focused on improving its reputation.

In addition, a service provider must always remember that social media platforms are not only for Press Releases. The followers of a certain company are not only interested on reading Press Releases, but they also want to read stories that engage their interests. Moreover, MSP followers are not always interested on what the provider can do, but instead, they are more interested on things that the MSP can do for them. To get more followers interested, the provider should give out tips and tricks for its customers and non-customers. The provider’s statuses should provide its target audience with information that its competitors can’t provide.

Of course, the previous methods will not work if the managed services provider will not always update its social media accounts. It is important that an MSP should always give its followers with fresh contents. If an MSP always provide fresh contents, its followers will always go back on following it. The main point is, an MSP should always appear on their followers feed, and to do that, an MSP should update regularly.
