Imperial needed to introduce a uniform SAP system across the entire group of 80 subsidiaries. After the acquisition of Lehnkering GmbH, they were using two different versions of SAP R/3 in accounting and controlling which created complications. They decided to make the switch from SAP R/3 to S/4HANA Finance throughout the company. This project was also challenging because they needed to migrate existing data. Project managers knew this would be an expensive, drawn-out process and their initial step was sharing internal knowledge and information about unpaid items and assets. Everything down to the field levels had to be clearly defined so they could perform the migration successfully using the right tools.
