Video technologies are taking their turn in the corporate spotlight. Adoption of business video solutions surged during the first half of 2020 as COVID-19 quarantines spurred a new temporary class of work-from-home employees to experiment with video capabilities as a means to stay productive and engaged. Accelerated adoption rates for Cisco Webex, Microsoft Teams, Zoom and a host of other collaboration services have seemingly transformed video into an overnight enterprise sensation. In reality, however, the new attention focused on these solutions is only crystallizing a video revolution already well underway in the workplace. Even before the COVID crisis, 49% of workers participating in a fourth quarter 2019 Wainhouse survey of 2,004 individuals reported that their viewership of business video had increased over prior-year levels.
