The Grinning CFO: How to Get a Return on BI Projects in Less Than 4 Months

The widespread growth and adoption of Business Intelligence (BI) is partly dependent on organizations receiving value from their investments. And yet, 19% of survey respondents to Aberdeen's 2012 agile BI survey don't measure how long it takes to achieve a Return On Investment (ROI) on their BI projects. At organizations that measure the time to ROI, it took an average of 9.5 months for their last major analytics initiative to show a positive return. Some, however, achieve that milestone in 1/3 of the time. This analyst insight, based on data collected in April 2012 (see sidebar), reveals how organizations can enjoy a faster return on their investments, and deliver projects on-time more predictably.
