Architecture, Engineering, and Consulting (AEC) firms are unique in that the quality of the product they deliver to customers is highly reliant on collaboration between the firm and their customer. This is compounded by the difficulties normally associated with project management of lengthy and costly projects. Any change in the project plan could add time or cost. Regardless a project manager's main goals should be to deliver quality projects on time and under budget. Therefore, project managers in AEC must be agile, meaning they can plan for and react to change in order to please their customers. This report, based on an Aberdeen survey of 102 AEC firms, illustrates the capabilities and technologies that are essential to managing change in project management.
