While modern engineering leadership exists on a spectrum, in the modern workplace there are two ends: One, with a top-down focus on output and standardization, the other, with a bottom-up focus on individuals. In top-down, leaders focus on standardization of tooling and process and may bring efficiencies, but may result in unhappy teams.
