The modern data center is a highly technical combination of servers, memory devices, management workstations, security devices, software, network-related services, equipment racks, Ethernet LAN switches, multilayer switches, cabling, power systems, cooling systems, fabric switches, and a few people. From the standpoint of providing for the exchange of information to and from a client and one of the servers in the data center, the process is divided into two clearly defined halves: Local Area Network (LAN) and Storage Area Network (SAN). |
