The Lamborghini Aventador is 6% lighter, 20% more fuel efficient and 9% more powerful than the previous generation. Much of these performance gains were the result of designing a monocoque body that weighs only 325 pounds. Lamborghini engineers made extensive use of FDM 3D Printing to build prototypes for the supercar. According to the Director of the Lamborghini lab, "We had to get the design right the first time because the tooling used to produce just the monocoque cost several million dollars."
