Finding Harmony in Convergence

Converging your organization’s infrastructure is a key initiative for your teams throughout the enterprise. What you want to avoid, however, is divisiveness and lack of consensus on objectives at the same time you’re working to create an execution plan for convergence. If ‘charity begins at home,’ then a successful convergence begins with your home teams. You need to be thinking about developing cross-functional alignment on objectives for convergence, cost considerations of new investments, and setting a long range vision for the converged environment. The teams also need to reach consensus on how convergence fits into the bigger picture of adding business value to your organization. Improving data management is also a key element in moving toward convergence. Developing an environment in which consensus and productivity can flourish is a critical first step in successfully managing all these moving parts.
